How can one distinguish Japanese people from Chinese? Any specific facial features?

I was sketching a japanese samurai and i wondered if it looked chinese. How can one differentiate Japanese from Chinese facial features? How can one distinguish Japanese people from Chinese? Any specific facial features?
I don't really think they have any facial differences but I could be wrong. They are both asian. How can one distinguish Japanese people from Chinese? Any specific facial features?
i don't thinks theres any difference they both one race Report Abuse

you can tell by skin tone, the shape of their face, the sheen of their hair, their nose, and their eyes.

Japanese tend to be more... I guess brown tinted than Chinese. Chinese are usually like a golden or a yellow (I know it sounds racists but its true). Chinese faces are flatter, their hair is Report Abuse

shinier, their nose is flatter and less define, and their eyes tend to be more flat on the bottom and smaller than Japanese. Japanese eyes tend to be more almond shaped and bigger. Chinese faces also tend to be rounder where alot of japanese faces are more oval or heart-shaped. Report Abuse

I think Chinese eyes are more closed, like they're squinting. I'm not sure if the japanese have that feature.
They don't really have different features. The clothes are different though!!!
Now, I am speaking only very typically.....

1) Historically, the Japanese have been a shorter race than the Chinese. The Koreans as a race are on average taller than the Japanese but shorter than the Chinese.

2) Japanese are more fair (a lot of mixed blood in their genes all the way from the first portguese)

3) Japanese tend to have more moles than the Chinese and generally smaller eyes.

4) There is a certain mold that I usually use to spot Japanese but it is very difficult to explain.
The face is different.

I can tell, but I don't know how to tell you.
The Japanese seem to have wider eyes than the Chinese, and more amount of body/facial hair depending on how much Ainu blood one has. The Japanese also have weird eye and hair colors than most Asian cultures, like on my grandmothers side(which is Japanese) we tend to have hazel, greenish eyes, and reddish black hair. Some Japanese also my have more Asian features than others. I think of it as Chinese are dark and have smaller eyes, Koreans are very fair and have wide eyes, and us Japanese are in between sort of. If you were to go by traditional clothing and culture you would definitely tell the difference
Chinese seem to be larger more big boned people. Chinese seem to be more golden than tan. The Chinese seem to have more broad faces and higher hairlines. It is just a personal prejudice of mine I guess, but I think Chinese men are smokin' and Japanese men seem more delicate and effeminate.
Of course. Yes! All Chinese people look alike! It IS possible for 1.2 billion men AND women to look like identical twins. And the same for ALL Japanese people. All Japanese are getting fatter because of rising obesity rates in minors due to low low costs of fast food. Japs have more slanty faces and Chinese have rounder, flatter faces.

Jesu t'aime. :)
Japanese people claim all westerners look the same. This is not meant as some racial bias but my Father worked for a JP Co for many years (based in Japan) and was said to him many times that ';all Europeans are indestinguisable'; (Dont think I spelt that right)
People from Japanese descendants often have lean long faces and people from Chinese descendants often have more oval/ round faces.
